This month the employee spotlight is on Colin Reichert
Congratulations to Colin Reichert for earning this month’s employee spotlight. Colin is one of our captains on the M/V Macey Lauren, we had a chance to ask Colin some questions;
Q: What do you love most about your job?
A: What I enjoy most about my job is being on the water and working as part of a team. I also appreciate the schedule and the time off the boat because it gives me a chance to relax and spend time with family and friends.
Q: Describe an interesting hobby or pastime that you have.
A: My favorite hobby is sports in general, whether it’s watching or playing football, baseball, lacrosse, or basketball. I especially enjoy going to college football games, being in that atmosphere, and tailgating before the games.
Q: How have you impacted the team’s success?
A: I think my biggest impact is keeping the team’s head in the game. Whether we’re dealing with changing orders or bad weather, I stay positive so we can keep moving forward without losing momentum.
Q: Tell us about a professional success story that you’re proud of.
A: I’m proud of all work I do in my profession. I try giving my best effort every shift because I believe that’s the most important thing you can contribute to the boat and operation.
Q: What is your most memorable achievement in your career, and why?
A: The most memorable achievement of my career was the first time I was turned loose in the wheelhouse. In this industry, that’s the goal everyone is working toward. Taking on that level of responsibility for the first time was both exciting and scary, but it proved that my hard work had finally paid off.
Q: Who or what inspires you professionally?
A: The guys who inspire me most are the ones who navigated the river before rosepoint and satellite TV existed. They have a deep understanding of the water that you can’t learn in a classroom. Seeing how they push the limits while keeping the tow safe is the best education I could have asked for.
Q: What makes you proud to be a part of this organization?
A: For me, pride in this company comes down to the people I work with every day and the focus on what’s next. I’m especially excited about the opportunities to expand my range, whether that’s learning to handle Z-drive boats or navigating new an area like the Great Lakes. It’s great to be with a growing company that gives you the chance to master new equipment and see different parts of the map.
Q: Who is your favorite sports team?
A: There are two types of people: Kentucky fans, and people who are wrong.
